Siam Piwat Group celebrates Pride Month with “The Celebration: Right to Love” campaign, marking ‘Global Pride Destination’

In celebration of Pride Month and Thailand’s legalization of equal marriage bill which marks the first Southeast Asian nation to recognized same-sex union, Siam Piwat Group, the leading real estate and retail developer – the owner and operator of Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery and a joint-venture partner of ICONSIAM and Siam Premium Outlets Bangkok reinforces its supports for Diversity, Equality and Inclusion at a press conference to announce the company’s “The Celebration : Right to Love” campaign. Addressing at the press conference was Leader of the Pheu Thai Party Paetongtarn Shinawatra.

For the coming Pride Month, which is globally recognized and celebrated in major cities worldwide, the top-of-mind tourist destination like Bangkok is also celebrating Pride Month. With the strong capabilities and the ability to cater to diverse ranges of visitors with different lifestyle and interests and also one of the major LGBTQ+ community, Bangkok’s Prode Month will also significantly stimulate Thailand’s economy and travel industries.”

In 2023, Siam Piwat worked closely with Bangkok Naruemit Pride to host Bangkok Pride, a grand event during Pride Month that brought together government agencies, private sectors, NGOs, and various associations. The event was a tremendous success, drawing over 50,000 attendees. This year, another significant event is planned to celebrate Thailand's milestone of enacting equal marriage bill, making it the first in Southeast Asia nation to legalize same-sex marriage. Siam Piwat Group will host "The Celebration: Right to Love" campaign, featuring series of events and activities starting from May 31 through June 2024.

Siam Piwat sets to be a ‘Global Pride Destination,’ hosting world-class events to celebrate Pride Month

Amplifying their positioning as ‘global destinations’ that attract locals and visitors from across the globe, Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery and ICONSIAM are co-hosting Bangkok Pride, under the campaign "The Celebration: Right to Love". The main events include the Bangkok Pride Parade, a celebration of Pride Month bringing together the LGBTQ+ communities from Thailand and beyond on June 1, 2024.

Siam Paragon will co-host The Bangkok Pride Forum 2024, a crucial platform welcoming individuals and representatives working with LGBTQ+ and women's rights, featuring over 20 sessions of discussions and talks from May 31 to June 4, 2024, at SCBX Next Tech, Siam Paragon’s 4th floor. Additionally, the Drag Bangkok Festival 2024, known for its captivating vibrancy that draws audiences worldwide, will take over Parc Paragon at Siam Paragon from May 31 to June 4, 2024 for its first festivities in Thailand and Asia.

Under "The Celebration: Right to Love" campaign, Siam Center the Ideopolis has collaborated with WildBrain’s world-renowned characters, Teletubbies. The characters share the values in belonging as inclusive characters who welcome everyone into their world, and can live together, be happy and joyful. Teletubbies will serve as Pride Ambassadors at "The Celebration: Right to Love," participating in the Bangkok Pride Parade. Two main activities at Siam Center are Siam Center x Teletubbies Experience Space and Wacoal X Teletubbies Café, the first Teletubbies Café in Thailand located on Siam Center’s G Floor amidst the Teletubbies’ world of lush green hills, along with delicious beverages and treats. Additionally, exclusive Teletubbies-themed merchandise, tailored for Siam Center’s Absolute Siam will be available.

Furthermore, Siam Discovery The Exploratorium joins Mister International Thailand 2024, a contest showcasing diversity, In addition, Road to on Runway activities will take place at Siam Discovery in June 2024.

For ICONSIAM and ICS, Assistant Managing Director of ICONSIAM Ms.Suma Wongphan said “ICONSIAM and ICS will launch “ICONSIAM Proud out Loud” campaign to celebrate Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion for people and their career which runs throughout June 2024. Pride Out Loud Exhibition will feature successful LGBTQ+ individuals in various fields of career. Thailand’s first The Proud Reflexions Exhibition will feature exclusive art toys by LGBTQ+ artists and LGBTQ – Friendly – the creator of popular characters such as Rainbow Kido, Dolores and Poriin, from June 1-18 2024 at Charoen Nakorn Hall, ICONSIAM.

On June 8-9, 2024, Pride Market will take place at River Park at ICONSIAM. Featured will be a fashion show "Pride Out Loud presents: Thai Pride x ICONCRAFT," by Miss Tiffany’s Universe and LGBTQ+ models. Featured also is mini concert by Gene Kasidit on June 8. On June 9 meet Thanasit ‘Thon’ Jaturaput and Pure The Voice and many exclusive merchandises. In addition, visitors can also enjoy rainbow waterfall show at Alangkarn zone on the 6 Floor and Southeast Asia’s longest ICONIC Multimedia Water Features in rainbow theme and many more activities all through Jun 2024.

ONESIAM SuperApp, Siam Piwat’s Group mobile application, will also present gamification themed The Celebration: Right to Love and offers special prizes.

In addition, to celebrate Thailand's enactment of marriage equality bill, making it the first country in Southeast Asia to legalize same-sex marriage, Siam Piwat Group supports collective wedding ceremonies, offering venues such as Siam Paragon’s Paragon Hall and ICONSIAM’s True Icon Hall, in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and district offices. The event is also prepared to welcome both local couples as well as international couples who wish to be part of the event.

A Pride Month celebration with Sustainable approach

As Pride Month coincides with World Environment Day on June 5, Siam Piwat has launched the exclusive edition of its ONESIAM Pride Edition drinking water can. The packaging featuring six vibrant Pride flag colors including red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. This new design is created by Somchana Kangwarnjit, an award-winning designer with over 200 international awards, and crafted by Greenery Water, Thailand's first aluminum canned water producer. ONESIAM water was first introduced at the end of 2023 to drive more sustainable consumerism, promoting the idea of world-saving beverages in aluminum packaging that can be fully recycled, aligning with the principles of comprehensive waste management, the Siam Piwat 360° Waste Journey to Zero Waste, and the drive towards zero waste organizations. Used ONESIAM water can will be repurposed as costumes and showcased in a fashion show on June 4, 2024 at SCBX Next Tech, Siam Paragon.

A collaborative effort between the government and private sectors to organize Bangkok Pride

The "Celebration Right to Love" campaign by the Siam Piwat marks a significance determination to propel Bangkok Pride into a global festival capable of attracting tourists worldwide to visit Thailand during June ebery year. This demonstrates Thailand's potential for hosting the World Pride 2030 event, aiming to promote Thailand as a world-class event hub offering world-class experiences. By hosting world-class events in the country, millions of people from around the globe are expected to attend. This year alone over 200,000 attendees is expected to participate in Bangkok Pride, comprising both Thais and tourists from across the globe. This will contribute significantly to attracting tourists, aligning with the Tourism Authority of Thailand's expectation of over 35 million tourists visiting Thailand in 2024 generating a total income of over 3 trillion baht.
