CORPORATE - 22 OCTOBER 2019

- The ICONIC Multimedia Water Features, Southeast Asia’s longest water feature, have won an award on the global stage, bringing international recognition to Thai people – a testament to the success of one of ICONSIAM’s Seven Wonders.

- The award reinforces the success of the creative collaboration between ICONSIAM and Ghesa Water & Art, the fountain specialist who has created over 3,000 landmarks globally, in making the Chao Phraya River the “Next Global Destination.”

Siam Piwat Co., Ltd., the owner and operator of prestige retail developments such as Siam Paragon, Siam Center, and Siam Discovery, and a joint venture partner of ICONSIAM – Thailand’s new mega-landmark of eternal prosperity on the Chao Phraya River, today, announced another global milestone, with its ‘ICONIC Multimedia Water Features’ – the longest water features in Southeast Asia and one of ICONSIAM’s seven wonders – winning a Gold Stevie Award 2019 for Art, Entertainment & Public in the Art Event Category from the International Business Awards 2019 (16th Annual International Business Awards). This achievement is another proud testament to ICONSIAM’s creativity and innovation in creating a global innovative attraction, setting a new benchmark for the retail industry and marking the Chao Phraya River out as the next global destination.

The International Business Awards is organized annually by the Stevie Awards. This year, the 16th International Business Awards was grandly organized in Vienna, Austria, with more than 3,900 nominations from both individuals and organizations of all types in 74 nations.

By winning this award, Siam Piwat has proved its capability to reinvent Thailand’s retail industry by creating a global iconic attraction on the river bank that promotes tourism for Bangkok and Thailand, in the same way that other large-scale developments on the riverfronts of great cities around the world have done for their countries, such as the London Eye in London and the Botanic Garden at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The longest multimedia water features in Southeast Asia not only attract visitors to ICONSIAM, but also spark a tourism boom for the Chao Phraya River, enabling Bangkok to rival the world’s leading metropolises and reinforcing Bangkok’s position as one of the world’s best travel destinations.

The awards committee said that it is a beautiful event and very well done. A spectacular and iconic display of excellence, the fountains are good use of technology to promote both Thai culture and the destination. The projection on the water streams from the fountain was very impressive. It is such a premium installation that reflects the stature of ICONSIAM and the show is well executed when integrating stories into the display.

The ICONIC Multimedia Water Features consist of spectacular light-and-sound dancing fountains stretching along the 400-metre riverfront area of ICONSIAM. The longest water attraction in Southeast Asia is a proud creation of GHESA Water and Art Co., Ltd., the fountain specialist that has created landmarks all over the world.

The fountains are fitted with special compressed air nozzles that project water 35 meters high, with 2D, 3D and 4D jet nozzles that can move in all directions like joysticks and shoot water to different heights, allowing them to form various water shapes. The water attraction also features the Cybernetic Technology, with nozzles that shoot a stream of water up in the air before it scatters into different floral shapes. ICONSIAM also incorporates Thai-ness into this world-class innovation by projecting images depicting the Thai identity onto a water wall. The 400-meter light-and-sound dancing fountains are not only the pride of Thai people, but also the world’s new iconic attraction.

The ICONIC Multimedia Water Features are now open to the public free of charge, with three performances daily at 18:30, 20:00 and 21:00 at River Park, ICONSIAM.

ICONSIAM opened its doors to the public in 2018. One year after the opening, ICONSIAM has swept 3 global awards from prestigious competitions in the world of retailing. Among them is The World Retail Congress awarded ICONSIAM, in which its architectural design was developed by Urban Architects, the top prize of ‘Store Design of the Year 2019’ as part of the annual World Retail Awards. ICONSIAM was also recognized as the winner in International Property Awards in retail development category as well as by Prix Versailles South Asia and the Pacific 2029 in shopping Malls category.
