For over six decades, Siam Piwat has been at the forefront of creating iconic urban destinations - vibrant, dynamic spaces that inspire engagement and participation from all sectors of society. As a trailblazer in Thailand’s retail real estate industry, the company has continuously elevated industry standards and set new prototypes for sustainable urban development.
From Siam Center to Siam Paragon, Siam Discovery, and ICONSIAM, each development stands not only as a national landmark but also as a catalyst for the city's economic, social, and cultural advancement. At the heart of the success is the “Siam Piwat Way" - a deeply embedded mission that reflects the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship, community empowerment, and long-term resilience. With a clearly defined goal, the company aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in Scopes 1 and 2 by 2050. Key missions are as follows:
Carbon Neutral: Measuring Emissions and Achieving 100% Offset
Siam Paragon, Siam Center, and Siam Discovery have become the first shopping centers in Thailand to receive official certification for Carbon Offset and Carbon Neutrality in the organizational category (Carbon Neutral of CFO) from the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization), or TGO. This milestone reflects the complete offsetting of 100% of the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the organization in 2023 under Scope 1 and Scope 2 - amounting to 23,092 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent. This is comparable to the environmental benefit of planting approximately 2,430,736 trees. Siam Piwat remains committed to continuously enhancing its environmental management systems, actively contributing to Thailand’s journey toward a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.
Zero Waste to Landfill – Holistic Waste Management through the “Siam Piwat 360° Waste Journey to Zero”
Siam Piwat is committed to achieving “Zero Waste to Landfill” by 2040, driving this ambition through strategic partnerships and the adoption of innovative environmental solutions across its operations. A key initiative is the “Waste to Value” program, developed in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), which converts food waste into animal feed. The company also works with partners to collect, recycle, and upcycle waste generated within its shopping centers into new, value-added products—many of which are featured at ECOTOPIA. This closed-loop approach is being expanded to include tenants, customers, and surrounding communities. In parallel, Siam Piwat has launched a Waste to Energy initiative, in partnership with the BMA and Wongpanit, to convert waste into energy.
To further address the issue of food waste, Siam Piwat has joined forces with both public and private sectors to minimize organic waste at its source. Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery, and ICONSIAM have become the first shopping centers in Thailand to participate in the BMA-led “This Shop Doesn’t Dump” campaign, achieving full participation from all food and beverage outlets within the four malls and setting a new benchmark for the sector. retail Beyond its commercial operations, Siam Piwat fosters a sense of environmental responsibility in the community such as Waste for Happiness, local canal conservation project in Khlong San, distribution of waste separation bins to promote proper sorting practices, ongoing education and training for tenants, staff, schools, and community members, as well as supporting global environmental event, the SPOGOMI World Cup, an international litter-collection competition.
Renewable Energy: Accelerating the Transition to 100% Clean Energy by 2030
Siam Piwat is committed to transitioning to 100% renewable energy across all managed properties by 2030, with an interim goal of achieving 30% renewable energy usage by 2026. Solar rooftop systems have been installed at ICONSIAM and Siam Premium Outlets Bangkok, covering a combined area of over 18,000 square meters. These systems generate approximately 5,024 megawatt-hours of solar electricity annually, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 2,512 tons of CO₂ equivalent—the environmental impact is comparable to planting over 264,000 trees. In 2025, an additional 3,500 square meters of solar panels will be installed at Siam Paragon, expected to produce 1,044 megawatt-hours of electricity per year, further reducing emissions by 438 tons of CO₂ equivalent, or the equivalent of planting 49,500 trees.
Beyond solar energy, Siam Piwat continues to explore cutting-edge clean energy solutions. The company has enrolled in the government’s Utility Green Tariff (UGT) program and is expanding solar infrastructure at Siam Paragon. Additionally, the development of intelligent air-conditioning systems is underway to optimize energy efficiency.
These initiatives reflect Siam Piwat’s unwavering commitment to climate leadership and its role in shaping a more sustainable, low-carbon future.
Green Spaces: Revitalizing the City with Vibrant Urban Nature
With the principle of a city’s balanced and sustainable growth, Siam Piwat has taken proactive steps to expand green spaces, now totaling over 38,400 square meters across all its shopping centers. The rooftop of Siam Car Park houses a 4,000-square-meter organic tree nursery farm operated with 100% natural and chemical free cultivation process. The initiative also incorporates comprehensive organic waste management, utilizing soil conditioners derived from organic waste, compost made from fallen leaves, natural fertilizers produced from coffee grounds, and bio-fermented liquids created from fruit peels to nurture and sustain the plants.
Furthermore, Siam Piwat has partnered with Bright Management Consulting Co., Ltd., specialists in sustainability, to develop a robust and ambitious Net Zero Roadmap. This strategic plan will steer the company towards the vital goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, paving the way for a more sustainable future.
