In an era of multifaceted business challenges, Siam Piwat remains at the forefront of the retail industry. This leadership stems not only from its successful development of world-class landmarks like Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery, and ICONSIAM, but also from its strategic perspicacity. Driven by this insight, Siam Piwat has been collaborating with global and local partners and organizations and fostering a new creative business ecosystem guided by its strategy of co-creation and collaboration, underscoring the power of partnership in laying a robust foundation for long-term sustainability.
Joining forces with Huawei to expand global privilege ecosystem
In a move that solidifies its leadership in global destination development and marks a significant step in elevating the retail industry and driving the tourism and economic sectors, Siam Piwat has joined forces with global technology giant Huawei to launch the ONESIAM Global Visitor Card. Targeting high-spending, quality tourists, this “digital master key” connects Huawei users to Siam Piwat’s global privilege ecosystem, giving them access to exclusive benefits that cater to every stage of their journey. Siam Piwat is the first and only Thai retail group to integrate with Huawei’s HarmonyOS, which has over 400 million smartphone users across China, thus further establishing Thailand as a premier tourist destination.
Setting a new global benchmark for sustainability with the MEA
In another significant move to set a new standard in environmental sustainability, Siam Piwat has become the first shopping center group in Thailand to sign an agreement with the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) to join the Utility Green Tariff (UGT1) program, which supplies green electricity from a non-specified source, bundled with a renewable energy certificate (REC). This agreement has enabled Siam Piwat to source over 30% of its total electricity consumption for Siam Paragon and ICONSIAM from renewable energy by 2025, a year ahead of its original 2026 target.
A major collaboration to strengthen Thai SMEs
Beyond enhancing its competitiveness and energy sustainability, Siam Piwat has been collaborating with various leading organizations to transform its shopping centers into an “opportunity platform” where small entrepreneurs can showcase their potential, thereby creating added value across all sectors and driving robust economic growth.
This vision has been furthered through partnership agreements with four major organizations: the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the SUPPORT Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand (Public Organization) or SACIT, the Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization) or CEA, and Chiang Mai University. Together with these organizations, Siam Piwat is developing a new ecosystem that connects the public and private sectors with entrepreneurs and empowers artists, local artisans, designers, and small business owners across all facets involved, from know-how and marketing to physical retail space and distribution channels.
LOI with UNESCO: Showcasing the potential of Thailand’s 7 Creative Cities
Siam Piwat has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with UNESCO under the UNESCO Creative Cities Network project to promote the artisanal heritage across Thailand’s seven Creative Cities: Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Phuket, Sukhothai, Chiang Rai, Phetchaburi, and Suphanburi.
MOU with SACIT: Developing the capabilities of Thailand’s master artisans
The Siam Piwat-SACIT collaboration focuses on elevating the capabilities and marketing reach of Thai craftsmen, from national-level master artisans and their successors to emerging designers. The goal is to develop Thai craftsmanship into a sustainable profession through the ICONCRAFT platform, which connects local producers with contemporary consumers.
MOU with CEA: Establishing Thailand as a creative nation
Through the strategic partnership with the CEA, Siam Piwat is striving to propel Thailand towards becoming a creative nation and advance the steady growth of Thailand’s 1.44 trillion-baht creative economy. Siam Piwat has previously collaborated with the CEA on numerous projects, including supporting the Bangkok Design Week, opening its retail spaces as exhibition venues for Thai creators, as well as providing training and business incubation, all of which lay a foundation for Thailand’s creative economy.
MOU with Chiang Mai University: Elevating Lanna’s local wisdom
The “Ma Nuea MAKE” project is a collaboration between Siam Piwat and Chiang Mai University to elevate local Lanna wisdom and promote the development of the “Creative Lanna” brand by providing retail space at ICONCRAFT in ICONSIAM. The project also seeks to blend local craftsmanship with contemporary design while maintaining Lanna’s cultural identity and roots. The project is projected to generate over 450 million baht in economic value within three years.
These partnerships are helping to cultivate a creative business ecosystem that will strengthen the grassroots economy, bring innovation to Thai heritage, and create a platform for smaller players to grow globally, with the ultimate goal of empowering Thai entrepreneurs to become true global heroes. In addition to ICONCRAFT, Siam Piwat has created other platforms of opportunities with various partners, such as SookSiam and Absolute Siam Store.
These partnerships are part of Siam Piwat’s effort to develop a business model that harnesses the power of collaboration and creates a synergy between the strengths of each partner. Through this model, Siam Piwat is seeking not only to enhance business capabilities and create retail space but also provide the opportunity to change lives, shape the future of business, and transform a city center into a global hub of inspiration.
