The event saw strong growth from both Thai attendees and international tourists, reinforcing Thailand and ICONSIAM as a true global festival landmark. The celebration also generated significant online buzz, achieving over 100 million views across digital platforms. It stands as the number one Songkran festival that seamlessly combines the joy of water festivities with the preservation of Thai cultural identity. In addition, the event helped stimulate the economy, driving a 15% increase in sales within the mall compared to the same period last year.
Mr. Supoj Chaiwatsirikul, Managing Director of ICONSIAM Company Limited, stated that ICONSIAM, together with its public and private sector partners, is immensely proud to host the 2026 Songkran festival under the theme “ICONSIAM THAICONIC SONGKRAN 2026.” The event plays a vital role in preserving and promoting Thailand’s Songkran festival—recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity—allowing people from around the world to experience its cultural significance. This year’s event exceeded all expectations, with strong participation across all activities. Total footfall over the 6-day period reached more than 1.47 million visitors, with growth seen in both Thai and international segments. “The ICONSIAM Songkran Festival was held under the concept ‘Splash, Joy, Happiness, and Auspiciousness – Thai Songkran,’ delivering a fully immersive experience. Visitors enjoyed fun, clean, and safe water activities, alongside entertainment from talented Thai artists and a wide range of cultural performances, including the Songkran Goddess parade and auspicious activities that reflect the Thai way of life. The event successfully catered to all target segments, both Thai and international visitors. In collaboration with over 1,000 retail partners within the shopping complex, ICONSIAM also delivered a diverse and rewarding shopping experience. As a result, spending during this year’s Songkran festival increased by 15% compared to the previous year, energizing both the shopping center and surrounding riverside businesses along the Chao Phraya River,” he added.
This success was made possible through strong collaboration with key partners, including the Ministry of Culture, the Department of Cultural Promotion, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the Public Relations Department, and leading private sector partners such as PURI Co., Ltd., British Dispensary (L.P.) Co., Ltd., City Ice Co., Ltd., Beverly Hills Polo Club, Sapporo Beer, Samitivej Hospital, Nissin Foods (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Havaianas, 6ty Degrees Mineral Water, S.Napha (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Dreame Thailand, Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS), AIKO, and SOOKSIAM.
Together, they created a spectacular Songkran phenomenon, positioning ICONSIAM as the number one Songkran festival that perfectly blends water festivities with authentic Thai cultural identity, further solidifying Thailand and ICONSIAM as a true global festival landmark.
ICONSIAM presented a series of standout highlights that brought together the icons of Thai identity in every dimension—ranging from cultural heritage and national symbols to modern cultural representatives, celebrating the Thai New Year with pride and vibrancy along the Chao Phraya River.
One of the most talked-about highlights on social media and a must-visit photo spot was the Water Landmark: the giant Thai elephant water-spraying installation. Inspired by the elephant as a national symbol of Thailand, this large-scale artistic sculpture was created by Dee SweetDrug Studio and features six water-spraying trunks, delighting visitors while also offering blessings through sacred water from nine temples.
In addition, ICONSIAM showcased Thai cultural heritage to a global audience through the spectacular Songkran Goddess parade, featuring modern icons such as Ling-Orm and 4EVE. The festival also delivered a major entertainment phenomenon, with over 300 performers bringing joy across six full days.
Traditional activities were also preserved, including Buddha bathing rituals for blessings, the respectful water-pouring ceremony to elders, the Little Songkran Contest, and singing competitions for children, youth, and adults. These activities not only encouraged self-expression but also fostered family bonding and warmth.
Every element of the event delivered a truly “THAICONIC” experience in every dimension.
